It is a very slow growing palm, but it needs a lot of room to grow, reaching a maximum height of 40 feet and width of 20-25 feet. The Canary Island Date Palm needs to be fertilized on a regular schedule and at least four times a year. This palm can tolerate times of drought, so try not to plant in a wet or low-lying location.This palm is cold hardy for our area, tolerating a low of about 20 F with out showing signs of damage.
